The Mars Canon (2002) delves into the intricate issues faced by two couples, Kohei and Kinuko, and Manabe and Hijiri, as they navigate the complexities of their relationships and seek resolutions to their problems. Kohei and Kinuko, despite their apparent happiness, are separated by an unbridgeable gap due to Kohei's marriage to another woman. Kinuko, aware of the situation, struggles to end the relationship and move on. Meanwhile, Manabe and Hijiri start their journey on a positive note, but their passion fades as Manabe seeks intimacy with other women. Feeling abandoned, Hijiri relocates to an apartment adjacent to Kinuko's, where she devises a plan to disrupt the mismatched couple for her own benefit.
