Monkey (2003) follows the story of Apartheid, a man committed to Green Hockers Rehab Center due to his severe alcohol dependency. His addiction has led to a life plagued by constant delirium tremens. An enigmatic, disembodied elderly man with the same initials appears to influence his journey towards sobriety. As a unique form of therapy, Apartheid is required to wear a monkey around his neck, adorned with two bags of rocks tied to its legs. The longer he remains at the center, the more rocks are removed, symbolizing his progress and the diminishing weight of his addiction.
