Durval Records (2002) follows the story of Durval and his mother Carmita, who reside behind "Durval Discos," their vinyl record store in São Paulo. Their lives are monotonous until Durval employs a maid, Celia, to assist his mother with household chores. On her second day, Celia abruptly leaves, abandoning a 5-year-old child, Kiki, and a note indicating she will return in a few days. Initially captivated by the child, Durval and Carmita's lives take a dramatic turn when they see disturbing news about Celia and Kiki on television, altering their circumstances entirely.
