The Commuter (2018) follows Michael MacCauley, a dedicated family man who balances his roles as a life insurance salesman and a former police officer. His daily routine involves a monotonous train commute to and from work. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he is suddenly laid off after a decade of service, leaving him to grapple with financial uncertainties, including his mortgage and his son's college tuition. On his journey home, Michael encounters a mysterious woman named Joanna, who engages him in casual conversation. Joanna, who claims to be an academic studying human behavior, introduces the concept of 16 distinct personality types. She presents Michael with a hypothetical scenario, asking him to perform a task that only he is capable of, with consequences that will impact one of the train's passengers without Michael's knowledge. As the situation unfolds, Michael finds himself questioning the reality of Joanna's proposal and the true nature of her intentions.
