Hero (1987) follows the journey of a young boy from Tamil Nadu who witnesses the brutal murder of his father, a labor leader, at the hands of a ruthless policeman. Driven by vengeance, the boy takes the law into his own hands and eliminates the policeman, subsequently fleeing to the bustling city of Bombay. The narrative then chronicles his rise to power as a notorious mafia kingpin, known as Velu Naicker. Along the way, he experiences the heartbreak of family disintegration and tragic losses. Ultimately, his reign ends in a violent climax when he is assassinated by the deranged son of another policeman he had previously killed in a fierce altercation.
