The Dead Man's Child (1911) follows the story of Edith, the daughter of Count Wolfhagen and the rightful heir to her father’s wealth. However, the Count's friendship with a moneylender, James Pendleton, complicates matters. Pendleton is designated as the heir if both Edith and her fiancé, Baron Sternberg, meet an untimely end. Following the Count's demise, Pendleton attempts to marry Edith but is swiftly rejected. Undeterred, Pendleton enlists the help of Gar el Hama to orchestrate Edith's abduction.
