It narrates an episode in the life of the writer Miguel de Cervantes. When he was only 28 years old, the writer was captured off the coast of Catalonia by Barbary pirates, maintaining a five-year captivity in Algiers while waiting to be rescued, with several escape attempts. Year 1575. The young Miguel de Cervantes, wounded in naval combat, is captured on the high seas by Algerian corsairs during his return to Spain. Miguel, aware that a cruel death awaits him in Algiers if his ransom is not paid soon, discovers an unexpected refuge in his passion for storytelling. His fascinating tales restore hope to his fellow prisoners and eventually attract the attention of Hassan, the mysterious and feared Bajah of Algiers, with whom he begins to develop a strange affinity. As conflicts grow among his fellow prisoners, Miguel, driven by his unwavering optimism, begins to devise a daring escape plan.
