Days Of Smoke (1989) follows a Basque revolutionary who, after returning from his exile in Mexico, seems to be driven by a desire to advance the Basque separatist movement. He reconnects with his old ETA comrades and catches up with his family, but it soon becomes evident that his true motivation is a troubled relationship with his Mexican wife. The film is deeply rooted in Basque culture, with a cast and crew, as well as the setting and language, all authentically Basque.
