Deserted (2016) follows the journey of a young woman named Jae, who, at the age of twenty-four, is set free from prison after being convicted for the murder of her mother. Upon her release, she finds herself back in her old hometown of Ridgecrest, a small town where she feels out of place. Seeking to escape the familiarity and memories that haunt her, Jae accepts an invitation from her brother to embark on a road trip to the desolate and breathtaking landscapes of Death Valley. However, their adventure takes a dramatic turn as they find themselves hopelessly lost in the vast and unforgiving terrain, facing the harsh realities of the desert.
