Shattered Glass (2002) is a gripping family drama that revolves around Jesko (Jürgen Vogel), an eccentric individual grappling with a severe condition. Jesko travels to see his father, Gebhard (Dietrich Hollinderbaumer), and brother, Ansgar (Peter Davor), on the day Ansgar is set to take over the family business. The dynamics shift dramatically when Ansgar discloses that their long-lost mother, Kathe (Margit Carstensen), has returned home, further complicating Jesko's already tumultuous life. While Jesko's behavior is unconventional, it is Kathe who exhibits true insanity. Her mental state is further challenged when she is identified as a potential bone marrow donor for Jesko's urgent surgery. Flashbacks reveal that Kathe was responsible for Jesko's head injuries, as years of abuse had caused significant damage to his skull and brain. The family's darkest secret is finally uncovered when a lesser-known relative's marrow is found to be a superior match.
