Faustão (1971) follows a group of outlaws, headed by the notorious Faustão, who get involved in a dispute between two feuding families, the Pereiras and the Araújos. During an ambush, Henrique Pereira, the son of Colonel Pereira, is injured. Faustão comes to his rescue and demands a ransom from the colonel in exchange for his son's life. Faustão assures Henrique that he is not a captive and is merely following the customs of the backlands. Lucena, a henchman working for the Araújos, locates Faustão and offers double the ransom to take Henrique captive, but Faustão declines. Despite the ransom being paid, Henrique refuses to return home, fully aware of the ongoing feud. Instead, he chooses to join the outlaw gang.
