It's Not Me, I Swear! (2008) follows the story of Leon, a ten-year-old boy navigating a tumultuous summer in 1968. Leon's life is filled with challenges, including his parents' constant arguments and the envy he feels towards his neighbors who are enjoying a beach vacation. Adding to his troubles is Lea, a girl who always seems to be right and drives him crazy. When Leon's mother decides to leave for Greece, seeking a fresh start, Leon is determined to cope with his emotional turmoil. He resorts to extreme measures, such as vandalizing his neighbors' house, becoming a compulsive liar, and even attempting to fall in love with Lea. Through their shared experiences, Leon and Lea learn to navigate the complexities of growing up and the pain of feeling abandoned.
