CODA (2021) centers around Ruby (Emilia Jones), the sole hearing individual in a deaf family residing in Gloucester, Massachusetts. As a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), Ruby's life is dedicated to supporting her family's fishing business, working tirelessly before school each day. However, her world expands when she joins her high school's choir club, where she discovers a hidden talent for singing and forms a bond with her duet partner (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). Her choir director (Eugenio Derbez), recognizing her exceptional voice, urges Ruby to consider a future in music, setting her on a path that forces her to balance her familial duties with her personal aspirations.
