Outside the Wall (1950) follows Larry Nelson, who, after being released from prison early, is committed to staying on the straight and narrow. He secures a low-key position at a rural health retreat. There, he encounters and becomes enamored with nurse Charlotte Maynard, who he believes is driven by material wealth. A significant heist of a million dollars from an armored car occurs, and one of the robbers surfaces at the sanitarium. Nelson engages in a dubious money-making scheme with an inmate but soon realizes he has become a target for other gang members. Meanwhile, the kind-hearted nurse Ann Taylor tries to guide Larry toward a more virtuous path.
