Burden (2018)

2018 · Movie · 128 min. · United States

Burden (2018) chronicles the genuine account of Mike Burden, portrayed by Garrett Hedlund, who established the renowned Redneck Shop and KKK Museum in the historic town square of Laurens, South Carolina, in 1996. Burden's life takes a dramatic turn when he is rescued from the grip of his hate-filled family through the compassion of a single mother, played by Andrea Riseborough, and the unwavering faith of an African American Baptist Minister, portrayed by Forest Whitaker. Raised and indoctrinated into the KKK by Klan leader Tom Griffin, played by Tom Wilkinson, Burden ascended to the rank of Grand Dragon due to his penchant for violence and seemed destined for a lifetime of racism and bigotry. However, his encounter and subsequent love for a single mother, who strongly opposes the hate group, ultimately compels him to make a pivotal choice.
