Paris, 1900. Lili d'Alency is a popular courtesan who hides a secret. Her daughter Tina was born with a disability and she keeps her away to protect her career and her reputation. But the day she is forced to take care of her, Lili decides to leave for Rome to start a new life. There she meets Maria Montessori, a doctor who is developing a revolutionary educational method to work with the so-called 'deficient children' and that years later will become one of the most valued pedagogies worldwide: the 'Montessori Method'.
