The Cave of the Yellow Dog
2005 · Documentary · 90 min. · Germany
One day while gathering wood for her mother in a field near home, Nansal, the eldest daughter of a Mongolian nomad family, finds a puppy. Falling for the little dog when she takes it home, her father declares his fear that it may be the descendent of wolves and bring them back luck, ordering her to get rid of it immediately. But Nansal keeps the dog despite her father?s instructions. When the time comes for the nomads to move on, the family leaves the dog tied to a post. However, it demonstrates the importance it places on the family by protecting Nansal?s little brother from a flock of vultures. From then on, the father finally accepts Zochor as part of the family.
