Nursing a Viper (S) (1909) is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, where a prosperous couple manages to stay safe by publicly supporting republican ideals. When a violent mob storms a neighboring chateau, an aristocrat seeks refuge in the couple's home. The couple takes him in and conceals his true identity by dressing him as a servant. However, the aristocrat's advances towards the wife lead to a tense confrontation. The husband, upon hearing the commotion, steps in, reveals the aristocrat's true identity, and expels him from the house, leaving him to face the wrath of the mob outside.
