Rob is the Head Writer of the Alan Brady Show and shares an office with writers Buddy Sorrell (Morey Amsterdam) and Sally Rogers (Rose Marie). The team works under the constant scrutiny of Mel Cooley (Richard Deacon), the balding, sarcastic producer of the show, and the constant target of Buddy's jokes. Alan Brady is played by Carl Reiner, the real-life creator of the Dick Van Dyke Show. "The Dick Van Dyke Show" debuted on CBS on October 3, 1961 and ran until June 1, 1966; 158 episodes in all.
