Touch of Evil (1958) begins with a mysterious figure setting a timer on a bomb and placing it in the trunk of an elegant car. The countdown starts as a wealthy businessman and his less affluent companion drive away. Their journey takes them through the grimy streets until they encounter Mexican police officer Ramon "Mike" Vargas (Charlton Heston) and his newlywed wife Susan (Janet Leigh). As the newlyweds cross the border into the United States, they pass the car, which then explodes in a fiery blast, creating a tense international situation since the bomb was planted in Mexico and detonated in America.
