Robert is a businessman convicted of corruption. During his stay in prison, Alberto, a close friend of his from his adolescence who led a life very different from his, dies in an accident. Alberto was the brother of a lighthouse keeper from the Basque Country, Monica, who goes to pick up Robert on his release from prison to go to the lighthouse and throw Alberto's ashes into the sea from the tower. But for the ashes to go to the sea they must wait for the south wind to blow. The businessman and the lighthouse keeper spend several days at the lighthouse under the shadow of their dead friend and brother.
