Mystery Train (1989) unfolds over a single day, weaving together three distinct narratives centered around a rundown hotel managed by the drowsy Screamin' Jay Hawkins and his enthusiastic bellboy Cinqué Lee. The first story follows a young Japanese couple who journey to Memphis to explore the Elvis Presley tour. Meanwhile, an Italian woman, portrayed by Nicoletta Braschi, arrives to claim her late husband's ashes and encounters an unexpected spectral visitor. Additionally, three local Memphis miscreants, including indie film icon Steve Buscemi and Joe Strummer from The Clash, embark on a directionless and ultimately consequential late-night adventure through the city.
