The Firefly (1937) follows the tale of Nina Maria Azara, a captivating and enchanting singing spy for Spain during the tumultuous Napoleonic Wars. Her assignment involves charming French Officers to uncover Napoleon's plans against Spain. She is dispatched to Bayonne, France, to collect crucial military intelligence. Before her mission, she encounters Don Diego during a performance at a club. Unbeknownst to her, Don Diego is actually Captain Andre, sent to Spain to infiltrate her operations. While in France, Nina uncovers Diego's true identity, but not before she has developed deep feelings for him. Nina cleverly evades her would-be captors and flees back to Spain, going into seclusion. However, Napoleon's forces invade Spain, leading to Nina's capture. In an unexpected turn of events, Nina and Captain Andre are reunited, but their nations are now embroiled in conflict.
