Hell's Angels (1930) follows the journey of two contrasting brothers, Roy and Monte Rutledge, who leave their studies at Oxford to join the Royal Air Force as World War I commences. Monte, the more carefree and reckless of the two, is known for his womanizing ways, even pursuing his brother's sweetheart, Helen. His bravado, however, falters when faced with the dangers of his Night Patrol duties, revealing a streak of cowardice. In contrast, Roy is steadfast and principled, striving to guide his brother onto the right path. Both brothers volunteer for a perilous two-man bombing mission, albeit for different motivations. Monte seeks redemption for his cowardly reputation, while Roy aims to safeguard his brother. Their mission to destroy a crucial German munitions plant is initially triumphant, but their escape is jeopardized when a squadron of enemy fighters closes in on them.
