Beth loves spending time with her stylish best friend Claudia Hartnell, who lives down the street with her husband Wyatt. But despite all of their apparent closeness, Claudia hides a side more disturbing that Beth could ever imagine. Abused as a child, Claudia lives in a fantasy world built around magazine clippings of all that she desires: a rich husband, a big home, a fancy car. Not content with dreaming, she is hell bent on getting all that she wants. When her husband discovers her psychotic scrapbooks and threatens to leave, she brutally kills him. Getting away with murder, Claudia soon becomes obsessed with having Beth's storybook life, husband, child and all. She manipulatively plays on sympathy over her husband's death to work her way in, spending more and more time alone with Beth's husband and son. Turning every confided detail against her friend, Claudia ruthlessly undermines Beth's marriage and family life. Unaware of Claudia's sabotage, Beth begins questioning her husband's loyalty, her son's love and her own sanity. Now the only way to save her world from total ruin is to take on the best friend who has become her worst nightmare.
