Raining Stones (1993) follows the story of Bob (Bruce Jones), a man residing in a struggling English town with his wife Anne (Julie Brown) and their daughter Coleen (Gemma Phoenix). Bob's life is a constant struggle, taking on various odd jobs such as bouncer, turf thief, and septic tank cleaner to make ends meet. Despite his financial hardships and reliance on welfare, Bob is resolute in his desire to purchase a new dress for Coleen's first communion. The local parish priest (Tom Hickey) advises Bob to opt for a more affordable second-hand dress, but Bob is steadfast in his decision to provide his daughter with a brand-new gown. However, Bob's plans are fraught with uncertainty, as he lacks a clear strategy to secure the necessary funds.
