The Crossing (TV) (2000) is set in 1776, just months after the Declaration of Independence, as the Continental Army, led by General George Washington, faces imminent collapse. With a severe shortage of soldiers, artillery, and provisions, Washington opts for a high-stakes, daring assault on the town of Trenton, where over a thousand formidable Hessian mercenaries are stationed. To execute this plan, the army must traverse the Delaware River, embarking on a seemingly futile battle that ultimately yields far greater success than Washington could have imagined.
