Dog Shy (S) (1926)

Dog Shy (S) (1926) follows the comedic misadventures of Charley, a man with a profound fear of dogs. His day takes an unexpected turn when he is pursued by a canine into a telephone booth, which has just been vacated by a pompous aristocrat. The aristocrat is in the midst of a phone conversation with his fiancée, who is being coerced by her parents into marrying him. Charley, in an attempt to assist the girl, ends up being mistakenly hired as a butler in the same household. That evening, a grand party is held, and Charley must identify the correct girl among the 20 guests. Just as he finds her, he is tasked with bathing the Duke, her dog, but misunderstands the instruction to mean the future son-in-law. Meanwhile, the father, exasperated by the aggressive dog, orders another servant to dispose of the dog at midnight, mistaking the dog's howling for a signal. The aristocratic fiancée, who is actually a criminal, plans to throw a safe out of the window, with his accomplice ready to catch it upon hearing the same signal. Charley, unaware of the true intentions, assures the girl that he will be ready.
