Substitute Wife (1936) follows the story of Esko, who impulsively wagers that he will marry the first young woman he meets. This chance encounter leads him to Kirsti, who initially rejects his proposal. However, when Kirsti learns about the bet, she decides to accept his marriage proposal as a means to exact her revenge.
