Sunny (2011) follows Na-Mi, a fresh transfer student from a rural area in Jeolla Province, as she navigates the challenges of starting anew at a prestigious high school in bustling Seoul. Her anxiety often manifests in her speech, revealing her small-town dialect and causing her to tremble. On her inaugural day, she faces bullying from her peers. Fortunately, a tight-knit group of girls steps in to defend her. This diverse ensemble includes Choon-Hwa, renowned for her unwavering loyalty and formidable combat skills; Jang-Mi, who yearns for plastic surgery to achieve double eyelids; Jin-Hee, known for her proficient use of profanity; Geum-Ok, a literature enthusiast; Bok-Hee, aspiring to be Ms. Korea; and Su-Ji, characterized by her arrogance. Na-Mi swiftly integrates into their circle. When the group encounters a rival clique known as Sonyeo Sidae ("Girls Generation"), Na-Mi's unexpected use of curse words, learned from her grandmother, helps them avert a potential crisis.
