Battle on Shangganling Mountain

An accurate depiction of tunnel warfare adopted by Chinese as a countermeasure to mitigate the advantage of firepower of UN. The top of the ridge was shortened by ten feet, blown off by UN bombardment. After the final Chinese withdraw from North Korea in 1958, North Korean gave one of the branch from the only surviving tree on the ridge as a memorial gift. (The survive of this single tree is a miracle). More than a quarter century later, when USA military delegation visited China, they saw this broken branch at the People's Liberation Army museum display, and the head of the USA delegation said concluded that "War is brutal and should be avoided."
