I,22 (S)
2015 · Movie · 21 min. · Canada
A young journalist is invited to spend an afternoon with Walt, a grizzled old foothills rancher. He recounts to her a mystical experience he had 50 years ago. While looking for a missing calf, Walt turned up a bizarre sequence of events that he interpreted as being the work of a higher intelligence. Being of a more reclusive nature, his imagination gets to work and starts to develop a bizarre pagan ritual built around this belief. I,22 is a Walker Evans portrait set in motion as a short murder mystery deliberately packaged to resemble a folkloric tale, that explores our fear of all the manifestations of 'void', and how our imaginations come to fill it.
