Swans (2011) follows a man who journeys to Berlin after his former girlfriend falls into a coma. He brings along their son, Manuel. The father frequently visits the clinic, leaving Manuel to explore the city on his skateboard during the chilly winter months. The silent and still figure of the woman in the coma affects both father and son uniquely. Manuel grapples with the tumultuous changes of adolescence, while his father endures the physical challenges of aging. The narrative explores contrasting perceptions of the body within a backdrop of emotional detachment and the city's stark coldness.
