Possums (1998) is set in the small town of Nowata, Oklahoma, where the local football team is notorious for being the worst in the state. The town's economic decline and waning morale lead to the team's shutdown to accommodate a new discount mart. Will Clark, a former radio announcer who used to broadcast the team's scores, is disheartened by this decision. Undeterred, he starts narrating imaginary games, ensuring the Possums win every time. The town's residents, captivated by Will's broadcasts, begin to rally behind the fictional victories. As Possum fever sweeps through Nowata, the question remains: can the real Possums team rise to the challenge and match the success of Will's fantasy games?
