Sleep Dealer (2008) follows the journey of Memo Cruz, a young villager residing in the small, arid community of Santa Ana del Rio in Oaxaca, Mexico. Memo is deeply fascinated by technology and yearns to escape his humble life by securing a job in the advanced factories of the northern cities. While using his homemade radio, he inadvertently intercepts some mysterious communications, which inadvertently draws unwanted attention. His home is subsequently destroyed by a remote-controlled bombing, forcing him to flee. During his journey to Tijuana, Memo encounters Luz, a journalist driven by a desire to make a difference. Together, they navigate a world increasingly dominated by technology, attempting to forge a meaningful connection amidst the digital landscape.
