Hurricane Hal
1925 · Movie · 45 min. · United States
A young Texan known as "Hurricane Hal," saves Bill Adams from Mexican bandits. In gratitude, Adams gives Hal a job on his ranch, where Hal antagonizes Lacey, the foreman, and falls in love with Virginia McFarland, the daughter of Adams' partner. McFarland and Adams decide to transport a large shipment of money in a buckboard driven by Lacey and accompanied by McFarland and Virginia. Lacey, who has been stealing cattle, arranges with his men to hold up the party. Following Adams' orders, Hal has been trailing behind them; he sees the theft and follows the thieves to a cabin. Hal rescues MacFarland and Virginia and they escape with the money, but are pursued by Lacey's men. MacFarland, Virginia and Hal get split up. Lacey pursues Virginia while Hal takes on Lacey's men. Lacey catches up with Virginia. After Hal has dealt with Lacey's men, he goes after Lacey who has taken Virginia and the money and is headed south to the railroad. To get away, Lacey steals a railroad engine. Hal takes a shortcut to head off the train; he boards the engine and fights it out with Lacey. Hal and Virginia jump off the train and escape just in time before the train crashes off a burning bridge. The next morning, MacFarland returns to the ranch alone. Shortly thereafter, Hal and Virignia return to the ranch and they report that they delivered the money the night before. Adams and MacFarland leave the couple alone as they embrace.
