The Happening (1967) follows a group of young wanderers who seize wealthy entrepreneur Roc Delmonico for thrills. They hold him captive, requesting a hefty ransom for his liberation. However, no one—be it his wife, Mafia connections, or even his mother—is willing to pay the $200,000 ransom. Delmonico is shocked to find that no one seems particularly worried about his situation. He then teams up with his captors to devise a plan for revenge, extorting $3,000,000 in hush money from those who were once closest to him.
