December Heat (2008) unfolds in the vibrant 1920s Estonia, where the rhythm of jazz fills the air. On December 1, 1924, the tranquility of the capital, Tallinn, is disrupted by Comintern members aiming to orchestrate a Communist coup. The narrative revolves around Tanel, a young soldier, and Anna, his girlfriend who works as a telephone operator. As the city descends into turmoil, their lives are intertwined with the fate of the nation, which hangs in the balance between maintaining independence or succumbing to the Communist regime. The film was Estonia's official entry for the 82nd Academy Awards in the Foreign Language category.
