Friendship's Field

An aged crayon drawing found in a trunk awakens memories from the summer of 1965. Eleven-year-old Ira was enjoying her last summer of freedom before working in the family's beet fields. When Ira's father hired migrant workers to help in the fields, Ira befriended Oscar, a young Mexican boy. Ira and Oscar built a treasured friendship that prevailed over local prejudice, cultural difference and tragedy.
