The Little Austrain (1924) follows the journey of a young Viennese girl, Leni Rossner, who finds herself lost and alone after becoming separated from her tour group at a bustling train station. Her fortunes take a turn for the better when she encounters Jørgen Wedel, a compassionate young businessman who steps in to help. Jørgen ensures Leni reaches her intended destination: the elegant villa of the Lassen family, known as Fredensro. As a long-time friend of the family, Jørgen is warmly welcomed, and the Lassens extend their hospitality to Leni, inviting her to stay for the summer. Leni's arrival has a calming effect on the family's strained relationships, and she even takes on the role of a matchmaker, facilitating a romantic connection between Jørgen and Edith, the Lassen's 18-year-old daughter.
