My Family Treasure

Twelve-year-old Jeff learns his family once owned a treasure: Before they were executed during the Russian Revolution, the Czar's family gave his grandfather a jewel encrusted Faberge egg, which he hid in a well. Many years later, Jeff's grandfather is a poor man was living in the United States, so his daughter Alexandra goes to the Soviet Union to claim their fortune. Alexandra searches everywhere, from the Kremlin to tiny villages. She is followed by Soviet intelligence agents, falls in love with a young Russian detective, and finally finds the egg, but loses both it and her love to the Soviet bureaucracy. Happily, after the fall of the Soviet Union, Alexandra is reunited with her love, the family reclaims their treasure and Jeff meets his father.
