Cavalrymen (1955) follows the journey of Brigadier Le Gouce and private Jean-Louis during the Italian campaigns of the French Revolutionary Wars. After losing their horses, the duo fears harsh repercussions and concocts a tale of a targeted ambush to Captain Georges. Shortly after, their regiment is decimated by an Austrian assault, leaving the two deceivers as the sole survivors. Napoleon, unaware of their deception, hails them as heroes, forever etching their names in history.
