Black Diamonds
2013 · Movie · 100 min. · Spain
Diamantes negros tells the long journey undertaken by two young boys from Mali, Amadou and Moussa, who arrive in Spain, pursuing the dream of escaping from poverty and becoming professional football players. When they are only fifteen, a talent scout persuades their families to send them to Spain, where they soon start to realize that the promises made by the man who signed them up are far removed from reality. The film touches ona raw nerve with this little known subject, that of thousands of young Africans who are left behind on the road to sporting stardom, and have to face the tough existence that awaits them after beingrejected by those who took them from their homes in order to exploit them.
