Swim Little Fish Swim (2013) follows the story of Maggie, Rainbow, Leeward and Mary, a couple struggling to agree on even the most basic aspects of their lives, such as their three-year-old daughter's name. Mary, a dedicated nurse, yearns for a change in her life and feels resentment towards her husband, Leeward, for his irresponsible behavior and inability to maintain a steady job. Leeward, on the other hand, is an unconventional musician with grand artistic aspirations and a New Age outlook on life. Their delicate equilibrium is further disrupted when Lilas, a vibrant 19-year-old French artist and daughter of a renowned painter, moves into their cramped Chinatown apartment to escape her domineering mother. Amidst surreal encounters, eccentric characters, and a blend of art and magic, the film takes viewers on a whimsical journey from innocence to maturity.
