Arvo Pärt: 24 Preludes for a Fugue
2002 · Documentary · 90 min. · Estonia
Arvo Pärt, orthodox Catholic and deeply religious, has 25 years in the music world scene, lending his music to Tom Tykwer, Gus Van Sant and Michael Moore. This documentary portrays the man as much as the musician: Pärt writing a score, recalling his childhood, arguing with his wife about the ideal dressing for tomatoes, talking about his influences on his style, rehearsing with established musicians and young talents, sorry because the camera can not transmit an aroma. Arvo Pärt, a genius, recalling the words he told a sweeper, "a composer must love each and every one of the sounds."
