Cosh Boy (1953) is set against the backdrop of post-war London, where Roy Walsh and his group of young troublemakers prowl the bombed-out sites and shadowy alleys, preying on elderly women for their valuables. With his mother, a war widow, unable to provide the necessary guidance, Walsh, who is already serving a probation period, finds himself increasingly drawn into more severe and cunning criminal activities.
