Boots Malone (1952) follows the story of a jockey's agent known for his sharp dealings, who finds himself in a downward spiral after his top jockey meets an untimely end. Transitioning from the luxurious Ritz to a modest room at the stables, he struggles to find a suitable replacement for nearly three years. Alongside his associates at the racetrack, he acquires a seemingly unremarkable horse. Their fortunes begin to change when Boots takes on a young, enthusiastic trainee, who happens to be a runaway from a wealthy family. However, their newfound optimism is threatened when criminal elements demand that Boots fix the race in favor of another horse, forcing him to confront a significant moral crisis.
