Static (1985) follows the tale of an eccentric individual employed at a crucifix manufacturing plant in the heart of the Bible Belt. This peculiar worker creates a peculiar gadget that he asserts can display images of Heaven. Frustrated and bewildered by the inability of his peers to perceive anything beyond a screen of static, he takes dramatic action. He seizes control of a bus filled with amiable senior citizens to garner media attention for his invention, hoping to prove its legitimacy and gain recognition.
