Many Native people come to Montréal searching for jobs and a better life. They come without money, without friends, without jobs, and very quickly become part of the homeless population that lives on the streets. Native filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin examines the plight of these people – dislocated from their traditional values, alienated from the rest of the population, torn between staying and returning home. She also looks at the Montréal Native Friendship Centre and other organizations that are attempting to help these individuals.
