Ada (1961) follows the political journey of Bo Gillis, a candidate for Governor, with Steve crafting his speeches and Sylvester managing his campaign. Bo's life takes an unexpected turn when he is set up with a woman named Ada, who works as a prostitute. Despite her background, Bo chooses to marry her, shocking everyone around him. Post-election, Ada is given a fabricated biography and proves to be exceptionally skilled at navigating social situations. As Governor, Bo discovers his limited influence, with Sylvester effectively controlling the operations. While Bo struggles to implement his reforms, Ada steps in, demonstrating strength and adeptness in advocating for both Bo and herself.
